A Bit About Us

improving the lives of veterans by offering equine-assisted activities and connecting humans with horses

Hoof Beats Therapeutic Riding is a non-profit organization that offers Equine Assisted Activities (EAA) to our local Veterans free of charge. EAA includes equine activities to promote the development of life skills, emotional regulation, wellbeing, and improved psychosocial functioning for veterans suffering from the physical and emotional wounds of war, including PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and other mental health challenges. Currently, there are over 13,000 veterans in Vanderburgh county. 1 in 4 of these veterans suffer from PTSD. Our local veterans are an underserved population and we know how important access to mental health services is.

Interacting with horses builds trust and confidence and strengthens emotional bonds with each session.
